Notes

  • Adjusting the Heat: This recipe is moderately spicy. If you prefer a milder sauce, reduce the amount of cayenne pepper and hot sauce. If you like it extra spicy, feel free to add more.
  • Storing Leftovers: If you have leftover sauce, let it cool to room temperature, then transfer it to a jar with a tight-fitting lid. It can be stored in the refrigerator for 4 to 5 days. To reheat, simply warm it in a saucepan over medium heat, being careful not to let it boil.
  • Serving Suggestions: This sauce is perfect for a seafood boil featuring shrimp, crab, crawfish, clams, mussels, and even lobster. Don't forget to add some corn on the cob and potatoes to your boil. For a complete meal, serve with a side of coleslaw or a fresh green salad, and some cornbread to mop up the extra sauce.
  • Doubling the Recipe: If you're cooking for a crowd, you can easily double or triple this recipe. Just be sure to adjust the spiciness to suit your guests' tastes.
  • Using Fresh Ingredients: For the best flavor, use fresh garlic and fresh lemon juice in this recipe. The fresh ingredients have a stronger and more vibrant flavor than their pre-packaged counterparts.
